Best Opening Credits Ever

At the time, I had thought Star Trek: Deep Space 9 had one of the most beautiful opening credits ever aired on television:

But right now, this one tops my list:

I'd write some more why BSG is also THE best sci-fi show right now, but I can't wait to get back to watching my season 2 dvds. ;-)

The opening music for ST:DS9 certainly communicate a sense of majesty and grandeur.

The re-imagined B:G's blends majesty with danger, like the calm before a storm, the light and the dark exploding in fever-pitch, dangerous action, warning of things to come.

I also liked the theme for Space:1999 year 1. Very 70s in instrumentation yet quite effective in evoking the danger, romance and mystery of outer space as portrayed in the show. Check it out.

i'm surprised... you like sci-fi shows pala. i don't watch them coz i cant seem to follow the storylines but BSG intrigues me now that i've seen the opening credits.

anonymous, you mean this? hah, funky! i oughta catch Space 1999 on dvd sometime. and Logan's Run. have been curious about those. (i always confuse those two with each other; why do i see landau in both shows in my imagination?). right now i have Saphhire & Steel in my viewing list, don't know when i'll get around to that.

berg, drop any of the show on your list now and start watching BSG. that's how good it is. for an intro, this video will tell you what you need to know to get started.
